Motherlove Birth and Baby Oil Review & Giveaway

by Jessica on January 29, 2011

Ok, so, I need to say this before you continue any further.

(twirling fingers, Bambi eye blinks, and digging feet in office hardwood floor)

This is a review post for a product sent to me by MotherLove Herbal Company.

(gasp and cue dramatic music- dun dun dunnnnnnn)

Ok. Ok. I know. “You’re not a review/giveaway blogger! Or, are you?!”

This is true. I have never done a review on this blog, nor do I plan on using this blog to serve as a platform for a gazillion reviews and giveaways.

However, I wouldn’t be writing this post if I didn’t think my personal experiences with the product sent to me by Motherlove could be beneficial to you, my loyal, fabulous readers.

( deep sigh)

Ok, so now that I have those little details out of the way, and if you are still interested, please do continue on. I promise it will be worth your while.

As a little background, MotherLove Herbal Company is the first herbal herbal personal care and supplement line designed specifically for pregnant and breastfeeding women. The company prides itself in creating products made of organic and pure ingredients.

I had my choice of products and  selected the Birth and Baby oil for a review. It is a natural oil made of apricot oil and lavender. According to its product description, it is ideal for perineal massage during child birth and labor and newborn skin (for dry skin and cradle cap).

My daughter is no where near a newborn, but I knew, given, its ingredients that the Birth and Baby oil would make for a great pre-bedtime massage oil.

A need for a new moisturize became particularly apparent after her illness this past month.

In having to give her Amoxicillin to treat the Upper Respiratory Tract Infection, her skin developed a short-lived rash that evolved into dry, cracked skin. The mineral oil found in our traditional body oil, made by mainstream company that I will not name, seemed to do little to penetrate the surface level of her skin. Furthermore, applying that “traditional oil” at night for her pre-bedtime massage seemed to only be a “quick fix” that would not last until morning. Boo!

So, for these reasons, I was anxious to give the Birth and Baby oil a try.

I am sucker for lavender, so the first whiff upon taking off the product’s cap was, well, heaven. I put a few drops (yes, just a few, unlike the oil spill that I had to use with my traditional oil) in my hand, lathered up, and began the massage.

The oil went on smoothly, unlike my traditional oil that had me scratching a record on my daughter’s skin (really).

I don’t know for sure, but I think my daughter also loved the oil. “How do you know that?” Well, she smiled the whole time and didn’t attempt, as she usually does, to crawl away with me chasing after her.

The end result? Well, my daughter’s beautiful skin was well moisturized and supple, and, most of all, it wasn’t greasy.

The morning after, Nya woke up with skin that remained moisturized and soft. So, the Birth and Baby oil was a hit!

Given my success, I thought it spread the love around. Yes, it’s a giveaway! To win your own Birth and Baby oil, do the following:

This oil sounds fantastic!

If I were to win the oil, I would certainly use it on my son each evening before bed. He's been suffering from colds lately, the most recent being an ear infection in both ears, and has had a rough time sleeping. Hopefully with a combination of the antibiotics he's on and the oil massage at night, he will sleep well at night and wake up less cranky,

I follow you via GFC. I would use this on my 8 month old – he has had some really dry skin this winter and I think it would be great for massage. ask081906@gmail.com
